Standard Boat Services, LLC (SBS) is a woman-owned crew boat company specializing in the dredging industry. My late husband, John Newman, and I started the business in 2014. From the beginning, our focus has been to provide reliable high-quality service and outstanding performance. We are committed to providing professional crew boat services with an emphasis on industry safety and customer satisfaction. We strive to exceed our customers’ expectations.
Our scope of services includes transporting passengers, supplies, and equipment from dock to dredge and dredge to dock and providing survey capabilities with survey wells on the Gulf Coast and East Coast regions. Our captains have 25+ years in the maritime industry and a six-year tenure with SBS. Our experienced crews safely operate and navigate our well-maintained USCG COI vessel against dredges and within dredging areas.
In 2016, Standard Boat Services built one of the only marine jet-powered crew boats serving the dredging industry. This innovative use of jet propulsion gives us greater maneuverability and higher efficiency at high speed. Currently, we have one vessel with plans to build another similar vessel.

Our Founder
SBS was founded by the late John "Johnny" Newman, along with his wife, Gwen. He loved to build boats and had a passion for the service. His wife Gwen Newman is carrying SBS forward with great pride, continuing and building upon Johnny's legacy.
